Common questions
How many 600×600 tiles for a room?
A 2×2 ft (600 × 600 mm) tile covers 0.36 m². A 12 m² bedroom needs 34 tiles at 10% wastage — 9 boxes of 4. Always order from one production batch: tiles from different batches vary slightly in shade and size.
What wastage should I allow for tiles?
10% for straight laying, 15% for diagonal patterns or rooms with many cuts. Keep a few spare tiles from the same batch after the job — a future repair with a different batch will never match.
Tile adhesive or sand-cement bed?
Adhesive (about 4–5 kg/m² on a notched trowel) is standard for wall tiles, large-format tiles and laying over an existing floor. A 25–40 mm sand-cement bed is the traditional method for new floors and lets the mason level as he lays. The calculator prices both.
Which tile size for which room?
600×600 or 800×800 in living areas and bedrooms; 300×300 anti-skid on bathroom floors so they don't get slippery; 600×300 or 450×300 on bathroom and kitchen walls; 400×400 rough-finish for utility, terrace and parking.
